Like I said, I was forced to OD on it. It was all she ever wanted to watch. To each his/her own. I do agree that there was sort of a "golden age" of the music video. Certainly there are still exceptional "mini-music-movies" being made. I just don't have the time to sift and find them. Gabriel, Byrnes, and a host of others have always brought something new to the mix. One of my favorite videos was shot for $600 bucks, and that was Van Halens "Jump". As a major fan I really felt it captured the band in a way that so many others had not been able to. I don't even think there was a single "babe in bondage" in the entire thing...and that is kind of ironic in itself -g- Quality can be found in almost all formats. It is really the packaging of MTV that offends me. The fact that 40-80 edits in a 30 second commercial has bled into the mainstream does not please me either. Either my brain is not fast enough to keep up, or my attention span is better -g- I like Burns. He is a detail guy and I respect that. I might have to watch that, or at least catch the repeat during the PBS "we need some money" week. I will be interested to hear your views of Tom Green. I have no idea what you will think about him. Without question it is a very safe statement to say that his is different. It might be possible to say he can create something original from the familiar. I think a newscaster said it best on his own show. She turned to a fellow newscaster and said, "I thought it was funny too...for the first 15 minutes". Worth a least one or two viewings. You have to give him two shots just in case you catch him on the rare off night. I have a place for Jazz, its just not in my first place. All forms of music are valid. The kind of music I listen does not appeal to many, and most of those that play it just make an average living. I certainly respect the skill and structure of Jazz. I even respect Country, but I am convinced that my personal version of hell will have it piped in 24 hours a day, right along with the live big-time wrestling coverage. Hey, thats why they call it hell. HAGO TH
