The Egyptians, who were neither predominantly black nor exclusively white, are credited with giving the Greeks geometry. The Babylonians are credited with giving them astronomy. The Phoenecians gave them their alphabet. Greek philosophy actually started in the Greek colonies of Asia Minor, with Thales, and flourished on island colonies around the Mediterranean before becoming a predominantly mainland activity centered in Athens. It is probable that there are strands of Persian, Macedonian, and other surrounding cultures in the mix.
