Mag,

I don't know enough teachers to really say. One is a flaming liberal that thinks there is a money tree somewhere and that is where daddy went during the day to "earn" his bread. The other thinks home-learning is a good idea and does not want his kids to got to school, so I can't really get a mainstream view from him. The third (just like that bed that was just right) is a good friend, and at least IMO an excellent teacher. She cares and her only real concern is that the school does not run out of money. How big a deal is money in their district. Because each room has a VCR that has a digital clock, they are no longer putting batteries in the old clocks on the wall. Every little bit adds up I guess and it does make for good PR when millage time comes (why is SI telling me that I can't spell millage?).

Of course I would agree that the ignorant are much easier to control. It follows that the lefties would benefit.

I don't have the start of an answer for these problems. Wish someone did, and that is where I actually have some high expectations for W. I think W is going to make education one his cornerstones. Still waiting for the detail, but what a blow to the left if our W. improves the machine.
