Of course the short sellers are irrelevant to Cisco.

They make an easy target, however.

I wonder where you guys get this idea that the short sellers have some big conspiracy against Crisco.

First of all, short interest is only 59.7 million shares. That's only .8% of the Float!! It's less than the average daily volume!!

The shorts are MEANINGLESS in Crisco.

My mistake for the confusion.

It is not Cisco short interest that matters. The reason that shorts like to start a rumor on this stock is that it hits so many other stocks. It has the largest market cap and does have a supply chain represented by a lot of high PE tech stocks like PMCS.

Therefore, in order to knock down those stocks and the Nasdaq in general, a Cisco rumor is the most effective. The high PE growth stocks in the nasdaq (jnpr, vtss, amcc etc) get hit quite a bit on Cisco worries. Those high growth stocks have high PE that many investors feel are not justified.

That is what i meant. I guess that should clarify my position. It is Nasdaq shorts in general that I am referring to.

I will stay say that shorts want to start Cisco rumors so that the Nasdaq will drop---the test that I am watching is when the rumors stop working---will that be the absolute bottom--that is what I am trying to guage.

Of course, if one wants to try to knock the stocks in the PC sector down, start an Intel or MSFT rumor. However, that sector looks to have bottomed anyways and may not react.
