What is worse - the inaccuracies/deceptiveness of analysts forecasts or the sensationalism of the media reporters - especially when they can place a negative slant on some news - negative sells! Witness the headlines;

"Nokia Falls Short"
"Nokia's Sales Spook Analysts"
"Pulse: Nokia's Slowing Phone Sales---"
"Nokia's Sales Miss ---"
"----After Nokia's Sales Diappoint"
"Nokia Soft Sales Data"
"---After Phone Giant's Sales Disappoint"
"Nokia's Sales Woes---"
" Analysts: Nokia Sales Woes Signal Lower Demand"

It seems that Nokia's sales growth of only 64% ignited a feeding frenzy, with each media source trying to outdo the others in its negative headlines. And the specifics? One analyst admitted to an expectation of 140 million units. One other, 135 units. This then generally became a media view of "analysts (plural) had expected 140 million"; or, "under market expectations of 130 to 140 million units". And even one discussion stated that "Nokia had expected to sell 140 million units".

I would have expected more rationality and a search for/analysis of actual facts - but then after Florida we've learned what's to be expected from the meadia. It's a shame that there are so many sellers out there today who can't think for themselves and, instead, react to what the pundits are supposdly saying - "the sky is falling".
