Welcome back, Gunmetal Girl! No, I haven't followed Brascan for years although my last experience with it was a very pleasant one---a huge dividend payout, if I remember correctly. Are the Bronfmans (of 'Seagrams' fame or infamy<gg>) still involved? You are probably in a better position than I to judge its merits as a longterm hold. It seems to have diversified in a million directions and a large part of its earnings have been derived from investment gains. (guess BNN didn't have a lot of high-tech exposure ;)) Did anybody try to pick up some of those Canadian energy trusts I mentioned? Some of them are up nicely in the last couple of months and monthly distributions are still in 20% (annualized) range. Sorry, last time I played cribbage was when I worked in a British Columbia lumber camp--trying to scrape together the following year's university tuition--oh-h-h say a 'few' years back.<gg> And thanks, had a great Christmas/New Year holiday---with plenty of snow. I was beginning to think we'd never have another 'normal' winter season in Toronto after the past three which were almost balmy (the weather, E, not the natives).
