World Heart Corporation to hold telephone conference call to announce
year end results

OTTAWA, CANADA, Feb 20, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- World Heart Corporation
(WHRT- NASDAQ, WHT- TSE) will hold a telephone conference call for shareholders,
media and interested members of the financial community following the release of
year- end results for the period ended December 31, 2000.

The results will be released via Canada News Wire and PR News at approximately
3:00 p.m. on Thursday February 22, 2001, and will be followed by the conference
call at 4:00 p.m. EST. Roderick M. Bryden, President and Chief Executive Officer
will host the call. Dr. Tofy Mussivand, Chairman and Chief Scientific Officer
and Ian W. Malone, Chief Financial Officer will accompany him.
