You need special software to burn CDs. Music CDs require CD-Rs, which are burned differently, if you want continuous play on a CD player. CD-RWs are basically for data storage, especially if you may erase in the future. CD-Rs are for music and archiving of important data, as they cannot be erased. The music quality is very good. One can select tracks off of commercial CDs, use wav files, or decompression MP3s to create playable CDs. Sometimes the compression- decompression process causes small distortions in tracks made from MP3s, like a popping sound. Sometimes, MP3s gotten through sharing (Napster, Usenet) are imperfect. But over all, they are better than tape.
