Thank you for the heads up, Andrew. I'm not surprised that it didn't affect SST's price today, it's a double edged piece of news. With more entrants in the flash market, margins will inevitably be compressed. One must believe that SuperFlash will be able to scale up and will continue to be a low cost production process, as well as in SST's ability to be nimble to have high hopes for the company. Now we know why they wanted to float the secondary last October. They still had over $200 million in cash at their last report, which hopefully has been increased since then. Should be enough to allow them to take a big stake in the foundry. I hope their timing is OK--it takes about 2 years from ground breaking to production, I believe, hopefully we'll either still be in a flash boom then, or just beginning a new one.

Sam

For those who don't read the Sandisk thread, here is an interesting article on the supply/demand balance of NOR and NAND flash:

And here is one on Samsung trying to replace NOR with higher density NAND flash:

Thanks to Binx on the Sandisk thread.

Andrew, Thank you very much for providing that link and the foundry story. There could be a number of reasons the company does not want to comment on the story: it may not be a done deal, regulation FD, waiting for the CC, etecetera.

Best, Huey
