SI is NOT a public forum. Sure anyone can read it, but we must join and/or pay to post here. When we join SI, we must accept rules and parameters. SI's rules. I can't call you what I'd like if I thereby violate SI's very subjective TOU. By continuing to use SI I show my acceptance of those rules and the corresponding consequences.

If SI didn't see the value of private picnics, SI wouldn't offer Moderated Threads within the system. This cyber space/property is primarily under SI control, and they have consented to let it be secondarily under my control. When I click on "LWP Debate Society and Boxing Ring (No Gloves)" I am offered the option to "Modify My Subject" I can change this to a thread devoted to wind surfing and political Posts would then be OT and a violation of TOU. I could whine to SI about those violations. Why? Because SI lets me set the rules on my thread, as long as I abide by TOU.

I guess it's a matter of weighing FS rights against Property Rights. Does one have FS rights where one is trespassing? Were the rules clearly posted at LWP?
