Andre,
FYI for you and others. Avoid the EPSON 1270 and HP 2000 models. Problem models. If you want a printer that will knock your socks off and give you excellent reliability and cost, go for the EPSON 1160. This puppy will print out an 11 X 17 high resolution print that will rival any photoshop and cost that is a fraction of what you would pay! Also once you start printing that size, 8 X 10's just won't do anymore. :-(

The cartridges can be easily refilled (important to use the correct ink) and paper is under 50 cents a sheet. Go find somebody that has one and have them print out a hi-res print and see for yourself. Do not believe what you read, but when it comes to printers and monitors, believe what you see!!! When you do, then you will believe what I have written. Since I myself have seen what it prints, I want one. Anyone know where I can get the best price?

Regards,

Steve 667

Andre, I ran the numbers.

With consumables figured in it is surely cheaper
to order selected prints from a website or a kiosk
(or Ritz camera) than to invest in an inkjet.

Having said that, I have cut down costs significantly
by purchasing 8 1/2 x 11 high quality inkjet matte paper
(50 sheets = $14.99 at BestBuy), cutting the sheets
into four 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 sheets (200 sheets for $14.99)
and printing them out on my Epson PhotoStylus 750.
I saw this printer advertised for $99.99 in an eCost
catalog last week. Now most of my costs are limited to
the color ink which has actually gone up in price. I figure
I can get at least 60 prints for about $15 to $20 bucks.

The model printer I own does a good job, but not photo
quality-like unless I use the glossy photo paper.

You may be better off waiting for the next generation printers,
but I still believe you will be surprised about what is out there.
