Hiya Charley,

Ugh. Tough situation in Ca. I just heard a wee report on CNBC (I know, that bastion of accurate news) about the possibility of California slipping into a recession. Not good.

Charley, Intel has plants all over the world, and it's always shaking down some government or other for massive subsidies. Barrett can say whatever he wants, but the idea of Intel building new plants in California, where wages and cost of living and everything else is expensive would seem improbable, regardless.

There's no doubt that California has a botched deregulation plan. Somebody should have looked at what kind of reserve capacity the utilities had before they wrote that plan. Actually, the way these things work, somebody probably did, and figured out there was a killing to be made.

Cheers, Dan.
