willcousa,

<I know people who invite legal aliens into their homes quite often. They expect nothing in return and would refuse it if offered. It is something they simply have the means and the heart to do.>

I totally agree with you. I grew up in the midwest and my grandparents were immigrants. Thru the years homes have been opened to relatives, friends of the family and/or friends of friends ... who were trying to get established in the U.S. Nothing was asked in return.

However, because of what I encountered while living in Texas, with the hiring and live-in arrangements with illegal aliens ... I'm less apt to view this as purely an altruistic act on the part of Chavez. I've seen too many similar arrangements.

<The illegal nature of the alien's status in the Chavez case should be a no-no for anyone who aspires to high office.>

Agree with you here too. Like I said, Chavez seems like a very nice person, is competent and probably would have done a good job. But, she really should have said something beforehand. She apparently discussed the situation with a neighbor before she was nominated, but chose not to tell the Bush team about it. Big mistake.

Guess it's a moot point now.

Cheryl

From today's NY Times editorial page: "Reasonable people would call a two-year houseguest who is not a relative and who vacuums, does laundry, looks after the kids and receives free room and board and spending money a maid".

Now on to Ashcroft and then we can start the impeachment proceedings for the illegitimate imposter from Texas.
Won't be long before we can start looking closely into Strom Thurmond's "character".
