Thru the years homes have been opened to relatives, friends of the family and/or friends of friends ... who were trying to get established in the U.S. Nothing was asked in return. However, because of what I encountered while living in Texas, with the hiring and live-in arrangements with illegal aliens ... I'm less apt to view this as purely an altruistic act on the part of Chavez. I've seen too many similar arrangements. <The illegal nature of the alien's status* in the Chavez case should be a no-no for anyone who aspires to high office.> Agree with you here too. Like I said, Chavez seems like a very nice person, is competent and probably would have done a good job. But, she really* should have said something beforehand. She apparently discussed the situation with a neighbor before she was nominated, but chose not to tell the Bush team about it. Big mistake. Guess it's a moot point now. Cheryl
