Better post on short interest and ramifications is from Skyhi111 over at Yahoo. messages.yahoo.com SHORT INTEREST = JAN 9, 2001 !! by: skyhi111 1/10/01 12:55 pm Msg: 146967 of 146968 For some reason, the data for short interest is to be set on Friday, Jan. 12 rather than on the 15th (? maybe because Monday is Martin Luther King's birthday, hence a Fed holiday?!)... this means the SETTLEMENT DATE FOR THE SHORT INTEREST REPORT WAS YESTERDAY, JAN 9 ... the dissemination date is Jan. 17 and the publication date is the 25th. This is GREAT NEWS!! We will have a VERY USEFUL data point, since today's little pop has signs of more short covering (even as they try to hold it down)... but won't be included in the short report!~ Now we wait for the data to be collected and released publicly on the 25th. see the following link for verification: nasdaqtrader.com
