willcousa,

How do you preserve the natural order if you don't permit
extinction?

The "natural order" of evolution and extinction is predicated on changes in the "natural" environment. Man has co-opted nature and subverted the "natural" environment. Blindly letting species go extinct as a result of our poisoning of the environment would be as foolish as removing the canary from the coal mine.

Pravin.

Extinction is part of the natural order of things. Over 99% of all known species are extinct. How do you preserve the natural order if you don't permit extinction?

Feel free to apply this philosophy to your favorite person. I don't believe in the concept of "natural."

If you don't like wilderness, fine. But many people do, and they will act accordingly to preserve it.
