This is pretty dumb alright....

On one hand you have pundits shouting each other down that
the oil and gas markets are going to collapse and everyone
should sell now (so they can buy before next earnings are out IMHO) and on the other hand you have the group
shouting each other left and right that we're going to
have to have price controls because prices are sooooo
high. In some cases the same people are making both arguments which I guess means they are shouting at themselves.....schizos I guess....some sure seem to be.

Anyway, which is it---? IMHO, Chicago and New york have
$20 city gate prices not infrequently, even in past years
for gas. So if we have prices up to those levels, I sure
see no need for anyone to be trying to put controls on
the market. If the whole world goes to hell and we all
have $68/mmbtu gas like California, perhaps you could get
emergency caps to $20-30/mmbtu limits.....Otherwise I just don't see it in the Bush Administration at all.

I'm of the camp that says we'll see $20-30/mmbtu gas
before we see $2.50 again. Let all the various pundits
rail and wail, and even bite themselves on one hand and then
the other.

There are some real freaks on some of these boards, and
$20-30/mmbtu gas with caps at those levels would make Swift
and True Truth weep all the way to the bank....

I think we'd all rather just see stable 8-12 prices this winter and settle for 4-6 the rest of the year.

But personally I think we may see some $12 gas
this winter before its done. Winter is not over yet.
