From infobeat.com:
U.S. TRADING SUMMARY: Technology stocks held modest gains in midday
trading on Wednesday as investors shifted out of safer-sounding
names in a bet that interest-rate cuts would revitalize the pummeled
high-tech sector. ``There is the feeling that techs suffered a great
deal and you take your profits in the old economy and move into the
new economy,'' said Milton Ezrati, a senior economist and strategist
at Lord Abbett, with almost $40 billion in assets. ``There is a
little wishful thinking that the old pattern will return, and we
think it's incorrect.''
Indeed, mobile phone giant MOTOROLA INC.
(MOT: 20-15/16, + 1/4) and online media company YAHOO! INC. (YHOO:
29-1/2, - 5/8) are set to kick off the reporting season after the
closing bell and analysts expect glum news.
