Robert,

I also worked as a wilderness ranger in the Pecos Wilderness north of Santa Fe. They have about 500 square miles with no roads and no ski lifts. Only a few people, horses, and lots of wildlife (including sheep.)

Wilderness is of incredible importance to the ecosystem. When I hear discussion of opening up land to off-road vehicles, I get sick to my stomach. I own two 4X4's, and there is absolutely no reason to take them into the wilderness.

If people are too fat or lazy to walk or ride a horse, they have no business being in the wilderness.
