Try dialfreecalls.com They send your detailed bill via e-mail and have no monthly fee and charge only .05/min. 24/7 for out of state. I have used them for 2 years and been very pleased. Keep your in-state with local carrier if they have better rates. It takes 2-3 weeks after you subscribe to get it changed over.

Legs -

You can drop your home phone out-of-state rate to 5 cents a minute for a higher fee which is what I did about a year or so ago. Don't remember exactly, but I think the breakeven is around 400 minutes per month. You can check it out at their web page.
