Ralph: I probably looked across Lake Erie at you through my binocs. Lived right on Erie's North shore for a decade and loved it. Now, I live on Lake Ontario's south shore,..... a much colder lake (the bottom temperature more or less stays at 35 degrees F all year round). The area where I live is considered the "banana belt" of Canada. Having travelled a bunch up into Northern Ontario, I buy the label! Incidentally, my son sent me a bunch of "you know you are a Canadian if....." one-liners. Broke me up,..... primarily because they are so darned accurate. Sample: Only in Canada are there handicap parking places in front of the ice rinks,.... or Only in Canada does your municipality buys a Zamboni before a bus (for those denisons of southern climes who do not know what a "Zamboni" is,..... oh heck it would take too long.
