Dear Craig: market just reacting to Cisco comments and analyst discussing them. Some fear of a bad quarter for CSCO in April. I suppose that kind of BS will leak over to SUNW BUT I will believe it when I see it. I think when this year is over we will find it to be ANOTHER sunw record. JDN

Hi Craig,

Sun Sales isn't worried by IBM and all their hype.

Last year they advertised a big "win" over Sun in an account that replaced a bunch of enterprise 450's (workgroup servers) with IBM's. To hear them crow, you'd think that "Sun was in trouble in the server market".

Actually, the opposite was true. Sun was so big that IBM needed to scream & yell about any good news at all so the market remembered they were still a player in the Unix space.

The proof was in the numbers. Check them out for yourself.

IBM, you know is now hedging its bets by putting a big effort into the services business (which I'm sure they're good at). They are having a tough time breaking into Sun accounts.

The big server game is Sun's to lose. The ONLY thing that can hurt them now is poor execution.
