"Kamman argues that Cisco's plan for end-to-end,
feature-rich networks will fail because the companies
will ultimately prefer simpler, cheaper networks based
on the best individual offerings, rather than an
integrated, all-in-one solution. Juniper's growing market
share in core routers -- 30 percent by one estimate --
indicates preference for focused products rather than
broad ones."

I disagree. The complexity of the networks will drive the demand for an end-to-end solution as opposed to a mish mash of component parts. Nortel is presently building an end-to-end network for Cable & Wireless and will not only build the network but manage it as well. I expect to see more of this approach.

A Thanksgiving salute two months late:

I'd like to take a moment and offer my appreciation and praise for all who post on this thread.

Regardless or whether bull or bear, or whether "genius" or "weasel<g>," the overall quality on this thread is unparalleled anywhere else on the internet.

I'm simply in awe of the disparity between this thread and all other non-Silicon Investor CSCO threads I may peruse from time to time, and once again I'd like to say thank you to you all. Geesh, even the infrequent spam that is posted on this thread is far better than the deluges of spam posted on those other threads!

Happy "Thanksgiving" one and all!
