It's amusing to see the Miami Herald using accountants to try to lend credibility to their Florida ballot count.

Do accounting firms have special expertise in counting ballots? No. Are hanging chads addressed in the FASB's tax regs, or other materials accountants use? Of course not. It's just a show.

Should we conclude that it is necessary to have accountants count the ballots (like they do at beauty pageants <g>) in order to get an accurate number? That would be silly. If we did, then I guess all the hand counts done by mere mortals (the canvassing boards) should be invalid.
