," To be clear why I think rate cuts will be ineffective, I think the stock market has BECOME our economy. No amount of cuts will reinflate it to keep the game going. Without a bull market, this economy has no choice but to collapse. In other words, the stock market (lead by the Naz) is what will cause the recession."

Chic,
Our economy is an engine that may be fueled by the markets, but is not the market. Fuel costs more, economy slows. Fuel costs less economy speeds up. As a bull and an investor in individual stocks i hate declines. As a 401k guy I love them. I keep buying those funds at lower prices. This money will keep coming in, propel the markets higher and then I will be even happier. The demographics tell us this and unless you believe the extreme WWF Bams scenario of world wide depression, you should be preparing for the next bull market. It always happens. Just a question of sooner or later. Mike
