but then again.....why buy gold when you can make a killin' shorting tech stocks down to 2000 or lower.....roll

I replace my cash position with gold. I don't use all my available cash on any given day so it's some place I can stick it with little downside and a good 40-50% upside (in stocks like NEM which almost correlate perfectly with the price of gold).

I agree that the 1/31 timeframe may be a perfect time to short the market.

Did you see the next GDP report comes out on 1/31. I think Jan 30 will be the day to start to short. People will see on 1/31 that we will officially be in a recession with back to back negative growth GDP reports. That may cause some to panic. (one can hope anyways)
