I just got done watching "But I'm a Cheerleader". Very sweet, and funny. Nice farceful send-up of a "camp".

In the mid-seventies a young woman I knew was sent off to a mental hospital, not a camp, to "fix" her. Didn't fix what they wanted, but left her pretty scarred from that experience.

Tesh and Myers who were left motherless under a trailer by a feral cat, lift their tails to you and say- sssssssss.
In kitty language, this is not a nice thing, and I will not translate, but you have been severely rebuked.

Decatification is a great idea

The issue of cats comes up in my list of characteristics I seek in single women for that possible "phantom" relationship.

The Do's:
(1) U2 (the greatest band in history)
(2) Rollercoasters (are you reading, Annette?)
(3) Hockey (the greatest sport)
(4) Motorcycles
(5) Cooking (I love to cook, especially with U2 playing)
(6) Men (most women really don't want them around)

The Don'ts:
(1) Own two or more cats!!!!!!!!!!
(2) Color your hair noticeably (have you seen that crazy shade of red or, better yet, silver blond?)
(3) Disguise your age (regularly a mystery, isn't it?)
(4) Get regular manicures
(5) Workout compulsively
(6) Astrology!! (what a joke)

Just porchin'
/john

P.S. Dedogification is just as merited

If they were endangered I'd get excited- and for endangered exotic cats I
would even do something.

Good morning, X. If you can stand one more postscript stemming from our discussion of cats...

I couldn't get your argument about endangered species out of my mind. I recall in a much earlier post your mentioning in the context of an abortion discussion that humans are not an endangered species. I thought it was a good point and added to my arsenal of choice arguments. I, too, am very concerned about the extinction of species. And also the way the human race is on the verge of turning itself into a pest species much like feral cats, if it hasn't already reached that point.

What I found interesting is your dismissal of domestic pets because they are far from endangered as a species. My framework is quite different. I love all animals, but pets get most of my attention because humans created them so they are our responsibility. Unlike wild animals, they are totally dependent on us and we regularly let them down. I am a real bleeding heart when it comes to a pet but I think society is way too soft on the irresponsibility of adult humans, including the irresponsibility of adult humans toward their pets.

Just my rumination, FWIW.
