So who decides what is best for society? I don't disagree with you that a common education platform is good for society. But I believe that I have the right to determine what is in my best interest and in the best interest of my family. I do not believe that you or anybody else, including (or especially) the government is qualified to do that for me.

There are many examples of where the government was supposedly acting in the best interest of society where truly horrific policies were enacted. So that isn't a real strong argument to me for forcing me to do something.

If society voted to support public education through taxes, why do you think that the individuals who make up society wouldn't do it voluntarily?
