Perhaps he should spend more time researching the optical networking industry....

I don't believe he's ever said that he doesn't like JDSU, the company, or the fundamentals of the industry. I think his and the market's bearishness comes more from the "price" of JDSU, the stock. There's still a lot of growth priced in. Even the current price can't be justified if growth is slowing and sentiment turns bad. Momentum works both ways and I think many people recognize that. Lack of research of the industry has nothing to do with it. It's more so having an understanding that there are other stocks out there than those in optics.....being able to compare fundamentals and looking at the scope of market sentiment, etc. There's a whole bull market going on away from tech stocks. Ex - Some of my oil & gas stocks are up 100% this year, banks doing very well also, drugs too. Over half my money has been in them the last 6-8 months. A year ago I had much of my money in optical networkers and still, I even think industry fundamentals have been stronger all this time in optics. It's just that there comes a time when buying those great long-term fundamentals is too pricey or risky.

Like I said, there will come a time when JDSU's price seems too good to be true (a la NT in the fall of '98). Not yet, but I'll be waiting.
