My family had a cockapoo that I mainly took care of. When I went away to college, he pined away. It is not that he did not get taken out and fed. He just missed me. He would sit around all day leaning against the wall with his head down, and only perk up when I came home. It was shortly after this that his health began to deteriorate, and he aged fairly rapidly. It was sad, but I could not take him to the dorms.......

That is a great story! I have heard of that. Not always a happy ending, though. We just moved a year ago, and one of our cats disappeared shortly after we moved - the neighbors at the old house said he showed up there nine miles away - but we were never able to locate him - the old house was empty for months while the owner remodeled. Checked all the animal shelters but he never showed up. Dang cat!
