We have a recession at our doorsteps or already in the house , an energy crisis with oil , natural gas, etc , creating a giant sucking sound ( sounds like a tax hike ) , a Federal Reserve that went overboard on interest rate hikes and taken liquidity out of the market ( thus taken the life out of productivity ---the one true counter balance to inflation ) and a President who has been more worried about his legacy ( if their is one ) than taken care of the economy . Instead Congress is more about tackling illegal aliens in someone house than addressing a national issue which is ---Energy . It is having a major impact on how we manage our economy and no one is paying attention . Maybe we ought to turn the lights in Washington D.C ---most of the idiots seem to work better in the dark .>>> Mary

Ten, I guess with the right management, such telecommuting is possible, but I don't believe mass telecommuting is the solution to traffic congestion It isn't a question of management, it is a question of attitude and belief. I know a guy who wastes 2 hours a day commuting from Pleasanton to Palo Alto. He gets to the office and spends the day sitting in front of his computer. What did he, or his employer, gain by wasting that time driving? One or two days in the office a week is enough for meetings. How much would the quality of life improve in Silicon Valley if: 1. People could live further out and buy affordable housing? 2. Rush hour traffic was reduced by 50%? 3. Parents actually spent some time at home with their children? Why do you think I left the valley?
