Thanks! The problem is that there is an inherent injustice in totally discounting merit. Additionally, there is no inherent injustice in differences of luck, and therefore no urgency in rectifying them. Finally, it is one thing to say that those suffering gross misfortune have a claim upon the community, as a kind of social insurance to which all might resort, and another to say that everyone must win life's lottery, or no one can. (By the way, I like your dad).....
