Blake,

market-share leaders Dell and Compaq clearly have the financial stamina and brand recognition to make it through what looks to be a rough year. But it could be considerably rougher for the likes of Micron, No. 11 in terms of PC shipments to North America. The company posted third-quarter earnings of 58 cents, missing Wall Street's expectations by two cents. Its stock has languished in the $30 to $40 range since mid-October, a far cry from its mid-July high of $97.

I like this kind of well thought out journalism. Look at this graph and see if the author has any idea what he is talking about.

Hi blake paterson; Re: "But it could be considerably rougher for the likes of Micron, No. 11 in terms of PC shipments to North America. The company posted third-quarter earnings of 58 cents, missing Wall Street's expectations by two cents."

BWAHAHAHAHA!!! The guy doesn't know the difference between MU and MUEI. MU does own 60% of MUEI, but the market caps suggest that MU is nevertheless largely a semi company, not a box builder. MU follows memory prices, not MUEI.

P.S. Here's the chart for MU, $21 billion memory maker:

Here's the chart for MUEI, the $400 million PC maker:
