Rockefeller was angry. He destroyed it out of anger and spite, which is worse than stupidity, imo. He KNEW what he was destroying. Diego was famous by then- he had already done the magnificent work in San Francisco, and I think he had already completed the Detroit murals. I can excuse ignorance. But I find it hard to excuse wanton destruction justified by ideology- by either the left OR the right.

Diego recreated the work later in Mexico.
