JohnQP - Analyst - I'm not just talking energy.

Which ones are sell-side etc? Which ones come early to the party, which ones come late.

In the case of Frost they seem to upgrade early vs waiting for new 52 week highs like some.

In the case of Kauffman I noticed with the techs that they kept pumping stock with outrageous price targets as those stocks continued to decline from 50 to 5 (PSIX, CMTN, NTPA and EFNT are just some).

I'd like to hear reasons why someone likes or hates a particular firm as well.

Que Seria - as far as the Cramer piece being the last word...no. I'd like to be a little more constructive and field opinions on specific analysts (kind of like we did with the oil misconceptions). I'll keep a running list and keep adding to it and post it when it's done. I plan on researching the web as well for any formally published ratings/reasons.

JimL made another good point about analysts yesterday.

The distinction between buy side and sell side is very important.

It's something we've discussed very little on the thread. And am not sure most folks are aware of just how important the differences are.

If I have some time to put a few thoughts together in the next few days will try and write an informative post for the thread about my contacts and experience with both types of analysts when I was on the street and as a professional investor since.
