USG Asbestos News
USG Corp. announced a charge against earnings for its asbestos liability. news.moneycentral.msn.com 20010111&ID=464460

The $850 million charge apparently is in excess of USG's reserves, and reflects liquidated and pending asbestos claims, as well as USG's future claims. By any reasonable assessment, USG faces a far heavier contingent asbestos risk than FMO, and certainly has a substantially greater number of liquidated and pending claims.
