Enchanting. My life felt pretty secure. Were you really in fear of yours?

(EDIT: I needed the grub. I knew JXM has around here somewhere. <G>)

Remember when polio came every summer and pools closed? Remember when mumps, measles and rubella killed children every year? Remember when we had separate schools, and drinking fountains, and seating in movie theatres? Remember when you could commit a family member to an insane asylum really easily- especially if the person was a wife or child? Remember when retarded people, and people with handicaps were kept in the house? And when people in wheelchairs couldn't get off sidewalks? Remember when cars had no seatbelts and child injuries in auto accidents were horrendous?

Remember the words on the playground? Remember when it was "ok" to call people racial names? Remember when it was ok to make fun of someone who was a different religion? Remember when even adults did that sort of thing in public?

Remember when everyone on your block talked about getting "The Belt"? Remember the kid who always had bruises on the back of his legs?

I like it now. The good old days weren't so good.
