I happen to like kitsch, but I hesitate to call it art. I guess that is my prejudice. Of course I think Elvis paintings, and crying clowns look best on black velvet. I tried to find a BV Jesus Painting for Po in Mexico, but instead got her a plaster of paris Baby jesus with spooky real glass eyes.
