I think my reaction is partly based on the character of our first posts to each other, on the LWP, when I felt you were not responding to my PM's encouraging your participation and public posts to you. I got the impression that you were more interested in collecting opinion than in adding yours to the mix. I believe there's a necessary balance to any discussion in this regard, particularly when it comes to politics and religion.

I think you've got a very good mind and I truly enjoy your posts. I was sad to see you leave the LWP. I certainly hope that you and I can discuss all sorts of things.

but cats are carnivores. all of them, yes? I don't see how that statement and "liberals (all) assume it's the government's job to solve all problems." That's an opinion and puts a large and diverse group of people into a hole picked by you, or whoever holds the opinion.

Starting a discussion from the point of having to dispel pre-conceived notions about what a person thinks, rather than getting into an issue, can be tiring.
