Yo Lakers,

<< you heard it first here that WAP and gprs can't be without each other <ggg> >>

I know and I'm getting confused (again) because this Simon Buckingham dude who is a messaging fanatic is making all sorts of noise about shortcomings of GPRS vis a vis WAP and/or SMS ... but he's raving about the new Ericsson R520:

Message 15166281

Pretty smart for Ericsson to release it as a tri-mode Worldphone, IMO.

Gues I'll have to try to figure out how WAP 1.1 differs from WAP 1.2.

Meantime I think Ericsson uses the phone.com microwbrowser and Nokia of course uses you know whose.

<WAP and gprs can't be without each other<ggg> >

On the contrary, WAP even works with the 180bps
control channel of GSM (in 20s UK), the one which is
implemented on every GSM network being controlled.

GPRS can also do magic for regular SMS and picture
messaging and a lot of other non-WAP services.

But together they really click, the operators can
smell those pheromones far away and the user will see
the same in the monthly bill as will the advertisers.

P.S. Btw, who wants an anonymous advertiser to drain
ones batteries?? maybe a question for Click and Clack.
