Mephisto: Katherine Harris was mandated by Florida election law to purge the rolls. DBT won the contract by competitive bidding(hehe). It was local option by county election officials whether to implement the list. The item about the contribution to the RNC, and most everything else, came from this Salon.com article: salon.com Incidentally, this entire topic was discussed at length last week by the Florida election review committee which I happened to catch on C-span over the weekend.
