A California Superior Court judge has placed in abeyance a subpeona served on Raging Bull requesting ID information on one of RB's users. The case involves the latest addition to our growing list of SLAPP bullies, New Visual Entertainment of San Diego, California. The subpoena was stayed by the court after the anonymous poster voluntarily appeared anonymously to challenge the subpoena. The court order is effective for 30 days and the anonymous publisher must still seek a motion to quash. The California court permitted the "John Doe" to appear anonymously to argue his motion... a procedure which is becoming more common in state and federal courts. The motion to quash will be filed with the court later this week. ------------------ Best regards to all, Lesnewsop.net ===== Author: CarbonCopy Rookie Poster Posts: 22 From: Registered: Jan 2001 posted 01-15-2001 02:05 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Topic: The status of the action Re: Fred_smith_jr fred_smith_jr has contacted the attorney and provided them with his true name and address for the purposes of service. Either way, this will become a media circus if not a screenplay or documentary amd the company will be the subject of tremendous public attention. Isn't that what management wants? After all, they love to hire people to promote them. This scenario provides it to them for free.
