Actually it's now bought out by Goldfields (GOLD).

BTW Anglogold (AU) is also worth checking out.

regarding franco and GOLD, i believe someone posted something incorrect to you. GOLD is not buying franco out. they were trying to merge and the south african govt wouldn't approve the merger.

FN.TO, and yes, it's a great company. at the recent lows you were able to buy it at about twice the value of its cash reserves, and get its operations and royalty agreements for a song. it's still a buy imo, although i'm a little bit concerned that so much of its royalty income is tied to the heavy hedger ABX. Franco itself is however unhedged. its portfolio is diverse, including royalty interests in oil and gas and platinum group metals (SWC).
