First of all, AOL did not make a "V" bottom. It was a "2B" test of a previous bottom: ispeculator.com

So yes, there was a way to board this, using the 2B setup:

And if you think you missed the boat, have no fear, but it on the first retracement (pull back) above the 30-day moving average: ispeculator.com

Don't forget, trading is about picking setups that are low in risk and high in reward. Using "gut" is not the way to go. Besides, if Greenspan had not saved the day, the market probably would have collapsed anyway...leaving those who trade on "gut" puking big time.
