To: Ilaine who wrote (675 ) 1/12/2001 1:35:29 PM From: hobo Respond to of 82486 Yes, there's amusement for all, laughing at people who practice religion. not from my perspective. in my eyes YOU are free to practice whatever you want. yes you are due respect for the same. and so does anyone who FREELY chose to do so. BUT.... only if you keep your boundaries. if you, or anybody, crosses the line and begin forcing or preaching upon others, who do NOT want religion to be forced on them. then i lose respect and the whole issue becomes fair game. i admit, i am bias because of the deeds that throughout history AND current events, extreme religious people have done. i view them as not only wacky, funny but in addition, i consider them dangerous. frankly, speaking from my perspective, i am fascinated at the thought they believe in a deity that his identity is rather questionable, (in terms of its existence). yet, with the same mouth, they ridicule those who believe in UFO's or worse, they have killed others who believed in different deities i do not endorse any, however, i do not fear those who believe in UFO's since i know, for the most part, they will not threaten me with hell, and other ridiculous concepts, if i do not buy into their folly. i do not need any lecturing from any religious people to be convinced of any argument. all i need to do is look at the current state of affairs around the globe. even assuming the benefit of the doubt to religious people, and saying... "let's assume that "a" god exists"... his results as a manager of affairs, is rather poor. he has had well over 2000 years to improve the lot of the many he proclaims to be god of. yet, the results are appalling at best, in addition most of his representatives have led at various times killing campaigns of impressive proportions. of course, all in the name of god of various flavors. even to this day, some of the logic and practices they promote fly against the face of a better logic, given the clear evidence we all can see throughout the world. sorry, I do not buy into the god theory. further, continuing under the premise that assumes its existence and I am wrong in my theory. I’ll gladly go to hell. At least I have been honest with myself and reached my conclusions after careful analysis, I am happy in the way I live and my mind is free of idiotic guilt. I bet you that there are many “god fearing” people that CANNOT say the same. I really do not want to debate, as I know I am not going to convince you, (nor it is my intent), and I know that you are NOT going to convince me. I posted this in response to the comment you made above, and it is made in the spirit of clarification, rather than confrontational. I am sorry that at times I may offend you by my comments, but… unfortunately, I make them because quite frankly I am tired of having “in my face” all the religious push that I confront everyday and the risk that they represent to me, based on the fact that I would NOT want to return to the days of the inquisition or witch burning. You think that is an exaggeration ? well, that is what you think, and now you know what I think. But just consider: In the days after the revolution against the Shah of Iran, fundamentalism set in. IMO they have gone back to the thirteen-century. Imagine if the likes of Pat Robertson, and friends really get hold of power. ciao bambina… you will also think that the Ayatollah Khomeini was tolersnt compared to the Jesus brigade. Have a nice day.
