I see, so it is the Christian tradition of anointing you find nutty. Anointing with oil is a traditional ritual blessing in Christian beliefs that is used at significant events, like Confirmation etc. I am sure there are some equivalent Jewish ritual(s) for receiving a blessing. I am not Jewish, but have attended Sedar. Quite an involved ritual. I would not make fun of them or call them nutty in any way. Nice try to divert by the way. Your original post is quite clear you were deriding Ashcroft's use of faith in his public life. Nice demonstration of intellectual honesty.
