Ms. Blue, it's always good to judge people as individuals. For the record, I don't think Ashcroft should be judged on his religion, I think he should be judged on his, er, record. The aspects of his record I find particularly troubling are his introduction of a very strict anti-abortion amendment (no exceptions for rape or incest, life begins at conception) and his blackballing the nomination of Ronnie White to the federal bench.

I expect he'll be confirmed, regardless. If he has any trouble, I imaging Thomas's "electronic lynching" will pale compared to Ashcroft's "crucifixion", but that will just make Ashcroft's "resurrection" all the more glorious. Sorry, equating one's political travails to Jesus' life seems a little excessive.

Cheers, Dan.
