I would say you did make it sound too simple. While on the book, Intel may deal with around fifty customers but the reality is that it is the end customer(100M+) that is difficult to predict. Especially the Dell model is now the norm, Intel has to bare almost all the uncertainty with effectively no cushion(middle man to share).
