To: Scott Lux who wrote (13833 ) 1/13/2001 1:54:43 PM From: Sr K Respond to of 32883 My feedback on the streaming portfolio feature - I, too, think a pm would not be as useful to the SI community: Clicking the link on the SI home page takes me to siliconinvestor.com which has not been updated. It still says: Registration for this feature is limited during the introductory period, which ends October 31. So I clicked Open My Portfolio and got the screen that asks for Demographic Information. Since I don't know who money.net is and what they might do with individual or aggregated portfolio information (trade on the information?), I clicked for their privacy policy. To me this is a joke and has no credibility. They appear to have used (barely) the TRUSTe boilerplate format without even reading it. There is a reference to a checkbox:During the registration process, users may choose not to receive future mailings by unchecking the box on the registration form. that doesn't even appear on the siliconinvestor.com page. And, who is GoInvest? Should I trust them? Why? Consider the following 2 items from the money.net Privacy Policy: What choices are available to your regarding collection, use and distribution of the information which may have originated from TRUSTe's instruction: What choices are available to your customers regarding collection, use and distribution of the information? Also, similarly: What kind of security procedures that are in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of information under the company's control For that matter, the TRUSTe mark doesn't appear on that page or anywhere on SI that I could find. I would like to try the service, anonymously, for a certain number of uses or days, without giving any registration information. And/or see the rest of the registration forms and what other information they will request before the registration process is complete. Well, that turns out to be NBD. You can register apparently with any name etc. you want! I think money.net, SI, Infospace, NASDAQ, etc. should be responsible if they are negligent and that negligence results in the reporting of incorrect information. Otherwise, the service is useless or a toy, and not to be relied upon. The warranty exclusions are unacceptable to me. For any long document there should be a button (a) to save as a file, for those who don't know how to select, copy and paste, or (b) to save in a wordprocessing format. The following is unacceptable to me: IDENTITIES OF THE USERS OF THIS SERVICE AND THEIR ACTIVITY MAY BE COMPILED, SOLD AND/OR DISTRIBUTED. I think when money.net wants me to install and run a file such as C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\JVM292.TMP, they should assure the file's safety, and give the size of the file and a choice of where to put it (I would rather put it on D: rather than on C:). And, what's the deal with the Maximum limitations, and the notice to upgrade, which led me to an Internal Server Error? What is the cost of the Platinum upgrade for SI members? For non-members? The click-through goes to the sign-up and agreement without stating the price. Near the upper right is an instruction to Click Below To Save Changes, but there is no SAVE CHANGES button, only "Save Settings". But the Save Settings button has a good feature of confirming that it was done successfully (it would be even better with a confirmation sound). Apparently, there is a limitation of 15 stocks and indices, unless you upgrade to Platinum. This, despite the Help notice that: money.net's Real-Time Portfolio Tracker allows you to follow up to 50 stocks or indices in real-time Maybe that's a special limitation for the SI free deal, that wasn't incorporated into the Help file. After putting in 15, and trying to add INSP I got a pop-up window "Error... a blank screen an OK bar to click a yellow on white (hard to read) message Upgrade to Track More Stocks!" (I switched to the light color scheme; with the dark colors it shows as yellow on black) The most active stocks' list ignored my font size selection, and is too large. The pop-up window for editing and to delete should underline the single letter that works, like d for delete or n for news. Finally, it didn't find 1 of the 14 stocks I entered, ADAP, and I didn't see a symbol search feature built in. To delete 15 stocks and indices had to be done one at a time, a faster feature would be better.
