Eric, ref Verizone, AMPS, many standards and much wide open stuff.

Yes, I agree, know and understand as well as respect
all of that, it is actually quite intersting, a dynamic
process with a long history,etc.

But the limit of my agreeing is newsreleases
as the latest Verizone one on Nokia "not being able to
get SMS messaging to work" not mentioning the "complexity"
of their network. (similar to the different version of
Q-networks with undocumented, hidden "features" and
cheating powercontrol handsets)

Btw, to my knowledge all GSM networks are, in a similar
fashion, not created equal, lots of historical, undocumented
knowledge and testing needed with different manufacturers,
versions and historical interface fixes and special
cases for this or that combinations of everything.

However, I know and understand that propaganda sometimes
is important, but I usually don't respect it, at least not
in these cases.

Ilmarinen

Btw, north scandinavia also has a lot of empty space,
especially in the north, mountaines in Norway and
lakes, archipelag in Finland, where the low frequency
carrier of analog still is "king", bends around mountain
sides, goes through forrests, etc. (450MHz)
Will be interesting to see what kind of service Finland
puts on the newly freed low freq. analog band (NMT).
