Good morning Steve,

Ah, I had a feeling you had a loved one who had been wheelchair-bound. And she was confined to one for seventeen years? My goodness, I honestly can't imagine what that would do to the entire family. The fact that she maintained her sweetness is near-miraculous, IMO. I'm afraid I would have quite quickly and irrevoccably become nasty and bitter. And to have spent all those years having cared for your own mom, that certainly turns life upside down.

It's amazing how often both members of a longtime marriage or partnership often pass away within months of each other. My grandparents died within six months of each other, and that six months felt like an eternity to my grandmother, who was the second to die. It's like watching two trees that had been planted close together. They grow and their branches intertwine, often to the point where they become one organism.
